Projects the past few months

I have been busy the past few months sewing, but not posting. So, here is a quick look at what I've been doing!
This is my wonderful friend, Tami's purse! She said she wanted animal print, but nothing too bold. I am not an animal print person myself, but love how it turned out!!!

This bear was made for Molly, Laura's baby. Laura's grandma gave me Laura's aunt's chenille bathrobe to make bears with. This was close to a year ago, before we even knew Laura was expecting. It is always neat to make things like this. It was a great surprise for Laura and her grandma (she had forgotten about giving that to me!)

Here is Nana's purse! I have gotten another order for one just like this from a stranger who saw hers!
(And now I have business cards, so it will be easier to give people my info! Thanks Nana!)

Part 2

This is the purse I made for the school auction! I'm so excited for the recipient. It's a Christmas present, I've been told, but the person found out and can't wait to use it! :)

These two were made from material people sent me. The one on the left actually is fabric someone sent to a friend from Africa!

This is the inside of a gym bag I made for my sister-in-law for Christmas. It was made from the same basic pattern as the diaper bag, but I added an inside zipper pocket and few other changes.
The picture doesn't show it that well, I almost for got to take a picture, but had the opportunity to give it to her in person yesterday.

Latest Purse

I can finally post pictures of this purse! It was a present that a friend was giving her sister. I didn't want to post it until I knew the present had been given. :) I think it's one of my favorites that I've done so far!

I have 3 more purses cut out and started. I also have material for 2 more waiting to be cut and sewn. Christmas will be here soon and need to make at least 2 presents. I'm sure I'm forgetting something! So, I'll be spending a lot of time with my sewing machine!

Christmas is coming!!

Ok -- It's still 4 months away, but it's ONLY 4 months away! The time will go fast.
I've already received an order for a purse as a Christmas present!

If you are wanting to give someone a handmade gift, now is the time to let me know!
Purse, diaper bag, drawstring backpack, bear, or other things by special request!

Don't wait until the last minute, or I may not have time to do it!

Diaper Bag!!

Here is the Diaper Bag that I have been working on! I made it with some material that someone gave me while cleaning out a closet! I thought it turned out pretty good! :)

The front has Velcro for the flap to close. The flap could be easily embellished with ribbon.
A large pocket on the back.

Four generous pockets inside and one on each end (outside).

I loaded it with 5 diapers (size 4), a wipes container/ointment/diaper baggies, a change of clothes, one pocket empty, a sippy cup. Hope that give you an idea of how roomy it is. (It's about 12 inches high, 5 inches deep, 15 inches across, and hangs 18 inches from top of the strap to the top of the bag.)

Drawstring Backpack

I haven't been doing much sewing this summer. But I have made a couple of drawstring backpacks lately. (Forgot to get a picture of one of them).

My daughter modeled it for me.

Below is some fabric I have to make more!

Let me know if you are interested in them. They are great to throw a few things in and go.

"Real" Summer Begins

Well, the kids have been out of school for three weeks now. The first week we were busy packing. The next week they were at camp and had a great time. Last week, we were on vacation at the beach!! It was wonderful!

Now, the 'real' summer has begun. I'm not sure how much sewing I will get to do, but I hope to do some. I don't have any orders (yet). So I might be able to try out a few new patterns.

However, if you are interested in a purse, please feel free to contact me!! :) If I have orders, I will get to them! Sometimes it's hard to sit down to sew if I don't have anything pressing. ;)

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

Kristine & Linda

Above is Kristine's purse.

And below is her mom's!

I do not have any more orders pending. Let me know if you want me to start working on something for you!
Hopefully I'll have a chance to play with a few ideas next week while the big kids are at camp!

Happy Summer!

Another week is almost done.

Wow! This week went fast! I did get Linda's purse finished. Need to get pictures taken and post them. I really need (and want) to get Kristine's done in time to mail them both to her, so she can deliver her mom's when she goes to see her.

I also hope to play with other patterns to have something else to offer. (Anyone have any requests?)

Oh -- I did make a little pouch to match my mom's purse. Humm, guess I forgot to take pictures. Once I get those figured out a little better, I can offer matching accessories! :) Actually, I should have a couple of different sizes/designs. Let me know if any of you past customers are interested!

I attended a funeral this morning, did a little sewing, and now need to get the little guy up from his nap, so we can head to school to the 5th grade's "invention convention". My daughter's 'Inspirational Inventor' for her report/board was the man that invented sewing machines :) And her invention was a little cushion to use when cutting with scissors for a long time.

Amber's is done!

Yay!! Finally got another done. Last week was busy with a sick girl, field trip, and a not so great day Friday. I am grateful to have a productive day today. I even went for a walk and planted some of the flowers I received for Mother's Day! The sun and fresh air was good for me.

Next up is Kristine's and her mom's purses. Then, that is it. At least that is all the current orders I have. Which is fine, since I'll be busy with the end of school year stuff and preparing for camp and vacation. But don't let that stop you if you are interested. You'll just have to have a little patience and realize it might be several weeks until it's completed! (I can give good estimates if anyone is interested)

Pictures of Jan's and Amber's will be up soon!!

Jan's is done!

I finished Jan's today... still have to wait a while before i can post pics. It's a cute one! My hubby even said he really liked it (without me prompting him!)

This one and the next three are all with pink thread and zippers!! Must be a spring thing!

I even now have my own labels to sew into the purses! :)

Yes, I know I still need to post pics of my mom's too. They are coming soon.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

One down, four to go

I got my mom's purse done Monday! I made it a little shorter than others and was able to make the handles a little longer. I think she'll like it.

Jan's purse is well underway. I can't post pictures of it until she receives it.

Next will be Amber's. Then Kristine's mom's, then hers - the ones I didn't know about!

That should take me well into May. It's always a busy month with the end of school, programs, field trips. The first part of June will be busy with getting the kids ready for camp and our vacation!

I will be ready to go again after that and looking forward to doing more for people then. Possibly even some curtains!

I think I'm gonna be busy

Well, my friend finally got material and told me she put it in the mail on Tuesday. I got home after school and spending the day with my son and a bunch of jr. high kids at their quiz meet. Went to the mail box and got the package. I thought it seemed a little big to just be material for her mother-in-law. Once I opened it up, I saw that she had also sent some for her mom and herself!!

So-- right now I have 5 purses waiting to be created. (two are in the process).

Guess I will be busy for a while! :)

Progress

I was able to get the padding cut out yesterday! And today I sewed it onto the pieces for my mom's purse. Not sure I really like it. Seems to be a little harder to work with, but I won't really decide until the finished project.

Here is a peek of the material.
Amber's material is on the left and Mom's is on the right.

I'm not sure how much more I will be able to get done this week. Getting a few things ready for a baby shower this weekend and going with D's Bible Quiz Team to Indy one day this week! (it's their last year participating. Also, it will be the longest I have left T with anyone! Hope my mom and he both have a good day!)

I have also been told that the material is in the mail for my friend's mother-in-law's purse for Mother's Day! Hope I can get it done in time! Just over 2 weeks away!!

The little guy is awake now, so I guess there will be no more sewing today....

Mondays....

Well, Mondays are hard days for me (and everyone I suppose). I have to start the laundry cycle for the week, straighten up after the kids have been home (I tend to neglect that on the weekends), I do my "desk work", etc.

Today I am determined to at least get the padding cut out for my next two purses. I bought something a little different this time. Hopefully it works just as well, if not better. My mom told me I could use her purse to try it on, so-- that will be the one I start on.

Oh- I did get her material and Amber's material cut out Friday. So it won't be long until I can get going on the machine. Would like to do that today, but think I will be better off if I just make getting the padding cut as my goal today! If i get to do more, that will just be a bonus!

I better get off of the computer, so I can get my list accomplished today!

What's next?

Well, it has been a few weeks since i have had a purse to work on. A couple people said they would buy their own fabric and mail it to me. I'm still waiting to receive it. One of them is for her mother-in-law for Mother's Day! Sure hope she sends it soon. It's just over 3 weeks away and have to allow time to mail it to her.

Yesterday my mom finally picked out fabric (for mother's day too!). One of my best friends & I went to the store and she chose her material today. But, there is no deadline for that one.

The sewing machine has had a break for the past few weeks. Hope it is ready to get back to work! (and hope the 'sew-er' is ready too! ;)

Mindy's purse

I met Mindy at the store and she picked out this springy fabric! too cute!!

On this one, I figured out how to just have 6 big pockets inside instead of 2 big ones and 8 smaller ones.

Bears, Bears, and More Bears

I have made teddy bears for lots of new babies lately. These two are for Naomi and Mary.

The one below is for Grady!

This one has a special story behind it. Two sisters I know, lost their mother as they were growing up. This bear was made from a dress that belonged to their mom. It was a surprise for Melissa's birthday from Luanna. I was so honored to do this for those sweet ladies! There was enough material left over to make a second one for Luanna.

Lynae's purse

This is the second purse I made. Lynae bought the fabric she like and brought it to me.

On this one, I figured out how to cover the ends of the zipper, so it covers the seams inside. I wasn't please with that part the first one that I made. I had just followed the directions. Still wanted to figure out something different for the inside pockets.
